Bobby Moon - Bobby Moon (Selfish Recordings)

Bobby Moon y Paul Thomas son los líderes del ecléctico y flamante grupo californiano Spellbound, el cual ya tiene una cantidad de exitosas producciones en el mercado. Thomas – a quien se le conoce como Pablo – también ha realizado trabajos como solista, así que era cuestión de tiempo para que Bobby hiciera lo mismo y lo suyo. El resultado es el vibrante y emotivo “Bobby Moon”, donde el cantante nos dice que tiene brillo propio.

La producción consta de siete temas, más uno ofrecido a manera de “bono”. En general, pudiera decir que la misma tiene un poquito de todo, que es lo que precisamente caracteriza la música de tanto Spellbound como la de Thomas y Moon. El compacto arranca con “Magic Radio”, un tema funky, pero con sabor sensual, seguido por “Kid Tattoo”, un rock & roll. También tenemos las suculentas baladas “Malibu People” y “Palos Verdes”, así como el reggae  “Puffin’ Stuff”. Además, se incluyen las piezas electrónicas “Difficult Day” y la que se incluye a manera de bono, la cual no lleva nombre. Cabe destacar que en esta grabación Bobby Moon estuvo a cargo de la voz, teclados, y percusión, mientras que Thomas se encargó de la guitarra, bajo, piano, órgano, y programación de batería. Bryan Marye tocó la batería en “Kid Tattoo”.

No me queda duda que Bobby Moon nos seguirá sorprendiendo por mucho más tiempo por venir. Su creatividad individual, así como también cuando trabaja con Spellbound, nos garantiza buena música para rato. Este compacto es parte de esa evolución musical. (EEG)
